Advanced course: “Conservation Genetics: concepts and applications”

EBM, in collaboration with the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Porto and BIOPOLIS-CIBIO, hosted the advanced course “Conservation Genetics: Concepts and Applications” in Mértola from March 11 to 15.

The course featured 16 students from 9 different nationalities and was guided by university professors and researchers from Portugal, the United States, Spain, and Sweden. Over a week, participants explored the application of genetics to biodiversity management and conservation.

Conservation genetics integrates knowledge from various fields such as ecology, molecular biology, population genetics, ecological modelling, taxonomy, and evolution, contributing to the conservation and management of ecosystems.
