Ecosystem Restoration in Semiarid Regions through Assisted Natural Regeneration

Location: Municipality of Mértola

To recover native ecosystems and restore ecosystem integrity, strategies for assisted natural regeneration will be tested. The potential for native regeneration and the speed of succession will be explored through manipulative experiments related to the restoration of degraded plantations, management of invasive exotic plants, and acorn dispersal by birds, particularly the Eurasian jay (Garrulus glandarius).
