The Mértola Biological Station and Territorial Partnerships

PRLIC- Project for the Recovery of the Iberian Hare and European Rabbit

The project promoted by the Municipality of Mértola aims to increase the densities of European rabbits and Iberian hares in the territory, with the goal of promoting the sustainability of hunting activities and contributing to the conservation of biodiversity, particularly the fauna that depends on these species for food.

The area within the Mértola Forestal Perimeter serves as a fieldwork site for practical classes in the Hunting Management course and the School of Hunting, Fishing, and Nature at ALSUD – Escola Profissional de Mértola.

CARES- Centre for Agroecology and Regeneration for the Semiarid”

In a context of high aridity and susceptibility to desertification, the Centre for Agroecology and Regeneration for the Semiarid (CARES), a project by the Terra Sintrópica Association, aims to facilitate the construction and sharing of knowledge about agroecological practices in a semiarid context, assuming the sustainability of the agri-food system as the matrix for the biophysical and socioeconomic regeneration of the territory.
